BLYTHE, Calif. (AP) - The pilot of a crop duster died when his airplane crashed in an alfalfa field near Blythe.

The Riverside Press-Enterprise reports (http://bit.ly/1AN08bE ) that the pilot was spraying the field Tuesday morning when he crashed.

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and Riverside County Fire Department say the plane contained fertilizer when it crashed.

The pilot was the only person aboard the plane. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released so his family can be notified.
