CULLMAN, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a Jefferson County man was severely beaten during a test drive of an SUV he was selling.

Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry tells Al.com (http://bit.ly/1JpGkfO ) 59-year-old Steve Mosley was in critical condition after suffering multiple skull fractures in the beating Friday night but that he was upgraded to stable.

The sheriff said Mosley had parked his 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe in a Morris store parking lot with a for-sale sign in the windshield. He arranged to meet a man who wanted to test drive the SUV at 9 p.m. Friday.

The man told Mosley they had to meet his father to get the money. When they met up with another vehicle in Culllman, a man got out and he and the other man attacked Mosley. The SUV is missing.
