SAN DIMAS, Calif. (AP) - Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials are searching for a gunman who fatally shot the owner of a sandwich shop during a mid-afternoon robbery.

Authorities say when deputies responded to the Quiznos shop in San Dimas on Tuesday they found the 63-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to the torso. The man, who was not identified, died several hours later at a hospital.

Investigators say the suspect had approached the cashier’s counter brandishing a semi-automatic handgun and demanded money. The owner gave him a bag containing cash, but then followed the robber outside, where a brief struggle ensued and the shooting occurred.

Detectives say the suspect was a man in his late 20s wearing a black cap, black shirt and dark short pants.
