SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Authorities say a 22-year-old man who police describe as a “violent felon” remains on the loose after he plowed into a pedestrian in San Francisco and led officers on a chase over the Bay Bridge.

Police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said Wednesday the victim was gravely injured and taken to a hospital. The 19-year-old unidentified man is expected to survive.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/1Q7VtZ0) police Tuesday night spotted a car in San Francisco that was associated with a recent robbery and tried to pull it over. The suspect sped away, running over the victim, who was in a crosswalk.

Esparza says the driver then careened onto the Bay Bridge and managed to ditch the officers somewhere around the Interstate 580 split in Oakland, dump the car nearby and flee on foot.
