LOS ANGELES (AP) - A 4-acre brush fire in the northwestern end of the San Fernando Valley has been extinguished.

More than 100 firefighters worked to quell the flames early Thursday afternoon. One firefighter sustained minor injuries.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department was first alerted to a half-acre fire west of the State Route 118 freeway at Topanga Canyon Boulevard shortly before noon. It later spread to 4 acres and advanced uphill at 3 mph to 5 mph near Rocky Peak.

By 1 p.m., the fire was knocked down and contained.

No evacuations were ordered.

Weather is damp and cool.
