KINGSTON, N.Y. (AP) - A 27-year-old man convicted of killing the 2-year-old son of a woman he lived with in a Hudson Valley home has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison and a $100,000 fine.

The Poughkeepsie Journal reports (http://pojonews.co/1FyrNc3 ) that Judge Donald Williams sentenced Kenneth Stahli in Ulster County Court Thursday morning.

His public defender, Andrew Kossover, has said he’ll appeal Stahli’s conviction after sentencing.

A jury found Stahli guilty last month of second-degree murder in the death of Mason DeCosmo. Prosecutors say the child had been beaten over several days and had over 70 bruises, cuts and internal injuries.

Stahli was babysitting Mason and his younger brother at their home in a Milton trailer park when their mother, Katlin Wolfert, wasn’t there.
