GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) - The Gainesville Police Department says it is searching for a man who slashed another with a knife-like weapon during an argument over drug money at a motel.

The Gainesville Sun (http://bit.ly/1Kb5Kyz ) reports the argument occurred Wednesday morning around 4:20. Gainesville police officers were called to a Motel 6 on a report of an argument between two people. Several GPD officers arrived at the motel to learn the two had been arguing over drug money when an unidentified suspect stepped in and slashed one of the people.

Authorities say the man was cut on his back, from his shoulder blade to his waist. The injuries were considered non-life-threatening.

Detective Matt Goeckel said police are on a hunt for the suspect.
