STORRS, Conn. (AP) - A chemical spill at the University of Connecticut forced the evacuation of a building on the Storrs campus, but officials say no one was injured.

UConn officials say a liter of formaldehyde was spilled Thursday afternoon at the Bousfield Psychology Building. Firefighters were called to the building shortly after 1 p.m.

Authorities were handling the spill as a hazardous materials situation, but didn’t expect the cleanup to take too long.

Officials say there weren’t a lot of people on campus at the time because it’s the summer session.

It’s not clear what caused the spill.
