LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A man has been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting in Little Rock.

Little Rock media outlets report a 25-year-old was arrested by members of a U.S. Marshals Service task force Wednesday.

Little Rock police spokesman Lt. Steven McClanahan said the suspect was stopped in a car and was arrested with no use of force.

Authorities say they responded to the suspect’s residence Monday night and found 26-year-old Yolanda Renee Whitfield lying on her back with gunshot wounds in her back, chest, neck and head. She was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

According to police, Whitfield was the suspect’s girlfriend and they had been arguing when he pulled out a gun and shot her after she started hitting his mother, who had tried to intervene.
