SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Cat food laced with white powder was left on a San Francisco Bay Area trail and police are investigating how it got there.

KNTV in San Jose reports (http://bit.ly/1G90oSO ) Thursday that police say the substance was found along the Three Creeks Trail in San Jose.

A dog owner says her 4-year-old black labrador retriever gobbled up a couple of bites of the cat food Tuesday. She became concerned and took her dog, Oreo, to a pet hospital as a precaution.

San Jose Animal Control Capt. Jay Terrado says the dog is going to be fine.

Terrado says the substance will be sent out for testing on Thursday to a laboratory at UC Davis’ school of veterinary medicine. Results are expected in a few weeks.
