STAFFORD, N.Y. (AP) - A 52-year-old Rochester woman is being treated for injuries suffered when a deer crashed through her windshield while she drove on a rural western New York road.

Genesee County sheriff’s deputies say Wanda Hudson hit the deer around 9:15 p.m. Wednesday in the town of Stafford, 25 miles southwest of Rochester.

Deputies say the deer crashed through the windshield of Hudson’s sport utility vehicle and hit her in the head and chest.

Hudson was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, where officials say she’s still undergoing evaluation in the emergency room.

Police say Hudson’s 14-year-old daughter was riding in the front passenger’s seat but wasn’t hit by the deer. The teen suffered minor cuts from broken glass.

Deputies say the impact decapitated the deer, which landed in the SUV’s cargo area.
