ROSWELL, N.M. (AP) - The Chaves County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a dead body found on a rural property northeast of Roswell.

The Roswell Daily Record reports (http://bit.ly/1KJ2F6Y ) police found the body Thursday. Investigators haven’t been able to determine whether the body is male or female.

Sheriff Britt Snyder says the body was found near a mobile home, in a hilly area that visitors don’t usually frequent. Investigators believe the person was murdered at the location where the body was found.

The family of 26-year-old Daniel Herrera, who went missing May 26, was also at the scene, fearing the body is that of their relative.

A police spokesman says police have gathered information leading them to believe Herrera is in danger.

Police are seeking several subjects for questioning.
