BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Want to lease a fully equipped school?

The former Redemptorist High School property in Baton Rouge is up for lease.

The Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/1FZJTas) the 95,412-square-foot building was put on the market Wednesday, with an asking price of $23,853 per month. The lease includes all desks, chairs, tables and other furniture used by the school, along with the gym and football field.

NAI/Latter & Blum also is separately marketing the Redemptorist baseball field as a potential site for a housing development. That 9.15-acre site is listed for sale with a $750,000 asking price.

Chris Gremillion, an agent with NAI/Latter & Blum who has the listing for the Redemptorist property, said another school is “the most ideal fit” for the lease property.

Redemptorist adjoins with St. Gerard Elementary, so the building can’t be used by another elementary school, Gremillion said.

NAI/Latter & Blum was contacted by the Catholic Diocese of Baton Rouge about leasing the property. Gremillion said the lease price was determined based on comparisons for other schools, including charter schools.

“We’re excited to bring it to market,” he said. “We were hired to do a job and we’ll do it to the best of our ability.”

The property has only been listed since Wednesday afternoon, so there hasn’t been much interest in Redemptorist just yet, Gremillion said.

He said the baseball field has a number of different potential uses, including land for single- or multi-family housing.

Redemptorist closed last month due to declining enrollment. Supporters of the school have been concerned about what would happen to the property.

There has been some speculation the Redemptorist site will become home for Christo Rey Baton Rouge High School, when the Catholic institution starts accepting students in fall 2016. Officials with the Chicago-based Christo Rey Network said they have never considered Redemptorist as a site for their school.
