NEW YORK (AP) - Police have arrested a man in connection with a series of Long Island robberies and burglaries.

Suffolk County police say the suspect struck two businesses on Wednesday.

They say he entered a Kentucky Fried Chicken in Bay Shore wearing a mask and a brown paper bag over his hand to simulate a gun. He fled with store proceeds. He then did the same thing at a 7-Eleven in Bay Shore but left empty-handed.

Police say the suspect admitted to both robberies and three others at fast food establishments between May 17 and May 27. Police say he also burglarized or attempted to burglarize two other businesses.

Joseph Broekhuisen was arrested Thursday. He’s charged with robbery, attempted robbery, burglary and attempted burglary.

It wasn’t immediately clear if he had a lawyer.
