CLEVELAND (AP) - Authorities have charged a Cleveland man who works as an armed security guard in an off-duty shooting at his apartment building.

The Northeast Ohio Media Group reports (http://bit.ly/1Myxrke) 45-year-old Samuel Williams was arrested at his 95th Street apartment after a fight with another man Thursday. Prosecutors charged him Saturday with felonious assault.

Williams told investigators the other man ran at him with a large knife. Records show Williams drew his 9-millimeter pistol and shot the man multiple times.

The extent of the man’s injuries was not known. The report said he was not listed at MetroHealth Medical Center Saturday.

Williams is in jail awaiting a bond hearing. He is licensed to carry a gun.

Records show he has faced felony charges twice before, but pleaded guilty both times to misdemeanors.
