GREELEY, Colo. (AP) - The University of Northern Colorado’s bear is no longer howling at the moon.

The university is updating its mascot and logo. The new bear is facing straight ahead.

The (Greeley) Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1F2Sx43 ) that people found the previous logo hard to decipher. The mascot will be used for athletic and non-athletic branding.

The updated mascot and logo will cost about $200,000 over two years.

School officials say they have not settled on a new logo for football helmets. The UNC helmet logo has changed 12 times since 1960.
