ISLETON, Calif. (AP) - The bodies of two men have been recovered from the Sacramento River after the pair drowned near the Isleton public docks.

KTXL-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1dpLXyv ) that according to the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department, a man jumped off the public docks in the early afternoon Sunday. The man then began to have some sort of issue in the water and was swept downstream by the current.

Officials say another man jumped from a private dock to try to help the first man. Both men disappeared under the water due to the swift current and cold water.

The Sheriff’s Marine Detail ran sonar and located the bodies about 13 feet underwater. The bodies were eventually recovered. The identities of the two men have not yet been released.
