In May 2014, the U.S. Department of Education made public a list of schools under investigation for possible Title IX violations stemming from allegations of sexual violence. At the time, 55 schools were on the list.

As of June 3, 2015, there are 129 cases at 116 schools.

These are the longest-running open investigations:

University of Massachusetts-Amherst: 4 years; investigation opened June 30, 2011.

University of Virginia: 4 years; opened June 30, 2011.

Michigan State University: 3 years, 11 months; opened July 21, 2011.

Wittenberg University: 3 years, 10 months; opened Aug. 25, 2011.

Arizona State University: 3 years, 5 months; opened Jan. 26, 2012.
