PHOENIX (AP) - A 12-year-old Phoenix girl smelled smoke and awoke her sleeping family, allowing them to safely escape their burning house.

The family of five was sleeping except for the daughter when she smelled smoke at around midnight Sunday.

It’s not known how the fire started but flames spread into the attic.

Firefighters were able to save most of the home but the family was displaced by the fire.

No injuries were reported.
