ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York’s Environmental Facilities Corporation has approved $500 million in grants and low-interest loans for clean-water construction projects around the state.

The funds approved by the state agency include $430 million for 26 New York City wastewater projects and $55 million for storm protection measures on Long Island and the lower Hudson Valley.

Other water quality projects approved by the agency include $8.2 million to the Madison County village of Hamilton to upgrade its wastewater plant, and $4.1 million in interest-free loans for a new treatment plant in the Cayuga County village of Cayuga.

The Warren County village of Whitehall will receive a $1.4 million interest-free loan along with $3 million in state and federal grants for a sewer rehabilitation project to protect water quality in Lake Champlain.
