HOUSTON (AP) - About 20 apartments have been destroyed in a fire in southwest Houston.

Houston media outlets report the Houston Fire Department responded to an apartment fire Monday afternoon at the Resort at Limestone Apartments. Officials say the fire started around 1:38 p.m. and was declared under control at 2:45 p.m.

No injuries were reported. Firefighters rescued a dog from the balcony of a burning apartment.

According to authorities, an automatic alarm that called for emergency help was triggered due to smoke and flames shooting through the roof of the complex.

The fire department’s arson bureau is investigating the cause of the fire.

The Red Cross is providing assistance to displaced residents.
