WEST JEFFERSON, Ohio (AP) - Authorities in central Ohio say one man has died and another is seriously injured following a hit-skip crash on Interstate 70.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred early Tuesday morning on I-70 near West Jefferson in Madison County. Twenty-nine-year-old Douglas Griffin of Cleves had stopped on the berm to work on his disabled tractor-trailer when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle that kept going. Griffin was dead at the scene.

Thirty-year-old Michael West of Cincinnati had arrived to assist Griffin and was also outside of his vehicle when the crash occurred. The patrol says he was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Authorities continue to investigate and are seeking any witnesses to the crash.
