SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - A woman who was run over by a city of Spokane truck Tuesday morning has died of her injuries.

Police say she died at a hospital. The Spokane County medical examiner’s office identified her as 53-year-old Stephanie Meier, who was also known as Stephanie Bender.

Police spokeswoman Monique Cotton says the woman appeared to be a transient who was sleeping under debris at a construction site about 7 a.m. when a Wastewater Management truck rolled over her.

Cotton says the preliminary investigation indicates the driver of the vehicle thought there were only piles of blankets, clothing and cardboard in the driveway. It’s not a typical location for transients.

Cotton says the death appears to be an accident, although it’s still under investigation.
