SALEM, Mass. (AP) - A Latin Kings street gang leader has been sentenced to at least 24 years in prison for plotting to kill two members.

Attorney General Maura Healey said 32-year-old Frutoso Barros of Lynn, leader of the Boston chapter, was sentenced Tuesday. He was convicted of conspiracy last month.

Healey said Barros and two other Latin Kings leaders from western Massachusetts and Chelsea met with more than 30 members to discuss killing two they believed were causing trouble. A week later police intercepted a three-car caravan of 23 members on their way to Lynn allegedly to commit armed assault.

The three leaders were indicted in 2013. One has been sentenced to at least eight years after pleading guilty last month. The third is serving a federal sentence and hasn’t been arraigned.
