JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Perennial candidate Shawn O’Hara of Hattiesburg, who once proposed supplementing the state budget with a series of government-run snow-cone stands, is back on the ballot in Mississippi this year.

New documents show he’s running for governor under the Reform Party label.

Candidates’ qualifying deadline for Mississippi elections was Friday, and lists of Republican, Democratic and independent candidates were available that night.

However, a quirk in state law gave smaller parties until the close of business Tuesday to submit their lists to the secretary of state’s office.

The Reform Party is running candidates for seven of the eight statewide offices - everything except attorney general. It also has two candidates for public service commissioner and one for transportation commissioner, which are regional offices.

The Libertarian Party has one statewide candidate, Ron Williams of Pascagoula, who’s running for lieutenant governor. Williams ran as a Republican for governor in 2011 and as a Libertarian for Congress in 2012.

O’Hara could not immediately be reached Wednesday because his past phone numbers were not in service. He describes himself as a business consultant and motion picture producer. Over the past 25 years, O’Hara has run a series of unsuccessful, low-budget campaigns for Hattiesburg mayor, U.S. House, U.S. Senate and governor. He received 2 percent of the vote in the 2014 general election for U.S. Senate.

Rosa A. Williams of Hattiesburg is the Reform Party candidate for lieutenant governor. Information about her background was not immediately available.

Republican Gov. Phil Bryant faces one challenger in his party primary. Three Democrats are running for governor.

Republican Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves has one primary challenger. Two Democrats are running for lieutenant governor.
