FAIRMONT, W.Va. (AP) - Fairmont police say a motorist drove a pickup truck into a liquor store to avoid a pedestrian after the vehicle’s brakes failed.

Sgt. Glen Staley tells The Times West Virginian (https://bit.ly/1zJbdDp ) that the motorist had driven onto a sidewalk to avoid heavy traffic. The truck then went through the liquor store’s front.

Staley says no one was injured in Tuesday’s accident and no citations have been issued. He says the driver did a good job maneuvering the truck.

The driver wasn’t identified.
