FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) - A search is underway for a passenger believed to be in a car that veered from a road and landed a creek.

Lauderdale County Emergency Management Agency Director George Grabryan tells the TimesDaily two people may have been in a car that veered from Alabama 20 and into Cypress Creek Friday morning. The newspaper reports one passenger was able to get out of the car and has been taken to a local hospital.

Florence Police Sgt. Dennis Patterson tells Al.com authorities used a camera to try checking the car for a second passengers but couldn’t see through the windows.

Local police, firefighters and other emergency responders are searching the water near the car and the edges of the creek for any signs of a second passenger.
