TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey is digging out following a major winter storm that dropped as much as 9 inches of snow on parts of the state.

The National Weather Service measured 9 inches in Brick Township. There was 8½ inches in Carteret and Manalapan. Eight inches fell in Hopewell and Pitman and little more than 7 inches covered the ground in Estell Manor.

Road crews are still plowing throughout the state. Motorists are facing speed restrictions.

Many schools have delayed opening and some are closed because most local roads are still snow-covered.

NJ Transit service is subject to 15 minute delays. Access Link service covering Atlantic, Cape May and southern Ocean counties will resume service at noon Friday.
