Maryland (2-7, 0-5 Big Ten) at No. 14 Michigan State (8-1, 4-1, CFP No. 13), 12 p.m. EST (ESPN2)

Line: Michigan State by 15.

Series Record: Michigan State leads 5-1.

WHAT’S AT STAKE

After a last-second loss at Nebraska, the Spartans are still hoping to win the Big Ten and potentially make the College Football Playoff, but they have no more margin for error. Maryland has only one victory over an FBS team this season.

KEY MATCHUP

Maryland’s pass rush vs. Michigan State QB Connor Cook. Maryland is the only team in the country that has two players with at least 6.5 sacks this season. Yannick Ngakoue has 11 and Quinton Jefferson has 6 1/2. Cook has been brilliant for the Spartans, but the Terrapins will try to disrupt his rhythm.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Maryland: CB William Likely. The junior started on both sides of the ball last weekend against Wisconsin. He had three carries for 56 yards. He has four career TDs on punt returns and two on kickoffs.

Michigan State: RB Gerald Holmes. With the Spartans dealing with injury issues in their backfield, Holmes rushed for 117 yards on 22 carries against Nebraska. His previous career high was 54 yards on the ground.
