NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a postal police officer was pulled over by two men impersonating police officers and was shot in the hand.

U.S. Postal Inspector Greg Kliemisch told NJ.com (http://bit.ly/1O5QjZp) that the postal officer was shot around 5 a.m. Thursday in Newark. He was treated and released from a hospital.

Kliemisch says that the officer is assigned to the Newark Division headquarters and patrolled the area on a daily basis.

It wasn’t clear if the officer was on his way to work at the time of the shooting.
