GASTON, S.C. (AP) - Lexington County deputies say they have charged a man with murder after he fired into another car and killed a woman in Gaston.

Authorities said 25-year-old James Richard Elledge Jr. was also charged with two counts of attempted murder because there were three people in the car he shot at on Nov. 7.

Deputies didn’t release any information on why Elledge fired on the car or whether the suspect and victim knew each other.

Sherriff Jay Koon said in a statement that Elledge was arrested Monday night in Aiken County. He was denied bond and is being held at the Lexington County jail. It wasn’t known if he had a lawyer.
