ELGIN, Ill. (AP) - Police say three men were charged with aggravated battery and mob action in a melee at an Elgin restaurant that also allegedly involved three teenage boys.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports (http://bit.ly/20TiGAO ) that officers were called to the restaurant at 9:20 p.m. Friday on reports of a group throwing chairs and damaging property.

Police say they arrived to find six people kicking someone lying on the ground. They ran away but were arrested shortly after. Police say the group had stolen an employee’s cellphone earlier while throwing chairs around.

Three 18-year-old Elgin men were charged with aggravated battery, mob action and other crimes.

Three 16-year-old boys were arrested and taken to the Kane County Youth Home.
