LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) - A jury has convicted a Bedford couple of theft of government funds and other federal crimes.

Edgar and Contina Foxx were found guilty Friday after a four-day trial. U.S. District Judge Norman Moon set sentencing for Feb. 23.

According to prosecutors, Edgar Foxx made more than $500,000 selling scrap metal from 2008 through 2011. In addition to the charge of stealing government funds, he was convicted of filing a false tax return for 2008 and failing to file returns for the following three years.

Contina Foxx also was convicted of lying to the Department of Health and Human Services on an application for Medcaid benefits.
