BOSTON (AP) - The head of Boston’s Catholic Church is meeting with Pope Francis in Cuba.

Cardinal Sean O’Malley traveled to Havana along with other Massachusetts pilgrims Friday.

He is expected to join the Pope for mass in the Cuban capital Sunday morning and for evening prayers.

The trip kicks off a busy travel week for the cardinal.

On Tuesday, O’Malley heads to Washington, D.C., for the Pope’s welcoming ceremony at the White House with President Barack Obama and other church leaders.

On Thursday, he travels to Philadelphia where he will give a keynote address on Friday at the World Meeting of Families, held every three years and billed as the world’s largest Catholic gathering of families.

The Boston Archdiocese represents nearly two million Catholics in about 300 Boston-area parishes.
