GARNER, Iowa (AP) - A former Hancock County Engineer’s Office employee and her husband, of Klemme, have been charged in a case officials say stems from a false bid for the purchase of county-owned land.

The Globe Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1NK5Vnr ) that 58-year-old Sharon Louise Rockow has been charged with felonious misconduct in office and her husband, 59-year-old Gary Edward Rockow, has been charged with aiding and abetting misconduct in office.

County supervisor Jerry Tlach says Sharon Rockow was fired Monday.

Investigators say that while Sharon Rockow worked in the engineer’s office, she and her husband delivered a sealed bid in someone else’s name on Sept. 19, 2014, for county property knowing the bid would later become public record.

The Rockows could not be reached for comment Saturday.
