JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Memorial Hospital at Gulfport and Singing River Health System have filed a lawsuit against the Mississippi Division of Medicaid, alleging they were underpaid for fiscal year 2014.

The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/2avXG06) that the public, nonprofit health-care companies filed the lawsuit in Hinds County Chancery Court after the division denied an appeal over the payment amounts. A news release from the hospitals says they already have sued over 2016 payments and are awaiting the outcome of a state appeal regarding 2015 payments.

They claim the total in underpayments is $25 million for Memorial and $21 million for Singing River.
