HOUMA, La. (AP) - Terrebonne sheriff’s deputies say a 34-year-old Thibodaux man is accused of stealing from cerebral palsy donation jars at four convenience stores in Houma.

Sheriff Jerry Larpenter said in a news release Walter Richard II was arrested Wednesday and faces four counts of theft and three counts of contempt of court.

Larpenter said the contempt charges stem from Richard’s failure to show up for court on shoplifting charges.

The news release did not say how much money was taken.

Online jail records do not list an attorney for Richard.
