WOLFSBURG, Germany (AP) - Struggling Bundesliga side Wolfsburg has signed highly-rated Dutch midfielder Riechedly Bazoer from Ajax Amsterdam.

Wolfsburg says the 20-year-old Bazoer, a defensive midfielder, signed a four and a half year deal through June 2021 and will join the side after the league’s winter break.

Only goal difference separates Wolfsburg from Hamburger SV in the relegation playoff place with two wins from 14 games. The club sacked general manager Klaus Allofs on Monday.

Coach Valerien Ismael says Bazoer can help “get Wolfsburg back on the path of success.”

Bazoer has made six appearances for the Netherlands. He has scored six goals in 51 games for Ajax but did not fit into the system used by new coach Peter Bosz.
