ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) - At least two of the remaining Republican presidential hopefuls are coming to South Carolina to discuss race issues.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson are participating in the Carolina Values Summit on Thursday at Winthrop University.

The event is presented by The Reconciled Church, which describes itself as a multiracial, nondenominational, apolitical group of church leaders working to heal the country’s racial divide.

Organizers say they invited all Democratic and Republican presidential candidates. Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum was among those announced as attending, although he departed the race last week and endorsed Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.

Summit organizer Bishop Harry Jackson says each candidate will have 30 minutes to address the audience and field pre-selected questions on topics including religious liberty, criminal justice reform and race relations.
