MACON, Ga. (AP) - A 76-year-old man accused of gunning down a Georgia woman at a gas station in Bibb County has been ruled mentally incompetent and ordered to be treated for 90 days in hopes that he’ll regain competency to stand trial.

The Macon Telegraph (http://bit.ly/1T9uBqH ) reports that Bibb County Superior Court Judge Tripp Self said during a Wednesday hearing that if Frank Reeves regains competency, he may stand trial in the December 2012 death of 65-year-old Linda Hunnicutt.

Self says if Reeves isn’t competent within 90 days, he’ll continue to receive treatment and the court will receive annual reports on his status.

Police say Reeves shot Hunnicutt after his wheelchair came into contact with her vehicle outside a Macon gas station. Authorities say Reeves told them he intended to fire his gun in the air.
