SALEM, Ore. (AP) - Oregon officials have released plans for the next state park.

The Statesman Journal reports (http://is.gd/XMRCzh ) that the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department released its initial plan for Sitka Sedge State Natural Area south of Tillamook.

The plan, which includes a low-impact design and 4.5 miles of trail, is open for public comment until March 1. Regulators could open the park as early as next year if approvals run smoothly.

OPRD purchased the property for $1.8 million in June 2014 and has been gathering input on how best to manage the site ever since. After the department takes feedback it will need approval from the Oregon Parks and Recreation Commission.
