BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Allegiant Air officials say a flight heading from Florida to Nebraska made an emergency landing in Alabama because of an electrical odor in the cabin.

The airline company told multiple news outlets that the flight landed safely at 8:51 a.m. Friday at the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport. Officials say there were 153 passengers and six crew members on board.

Company officials say the plane left St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport at 8:19 a.m. The crew noticed the electrical odor in the cabin before the emergency landing was declared.

The company says each passenger will receive a $100 voucher for future travel.

A new flight left at 2:30 p.m. to take passengers to Omaha, Nebraska.

The source of the odor hasn’t been released.
