SALEM, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a 25-year-old man slammed his girlfriend’s 2-year-old daughter into a couch, killing her.

NJ.com reported (http://bit.ly/1oxYoyc) that Leslie Hill was charged with murder in the death of A’Keena Cooke on Monday morning. An autopsy showed that the girl died from multiple blunt force injuries.

Hill on Friday remained in the Salem County Correctional Facility on $1 million bail. It wasn’t known if he had an attorney who could comment on his behalf.

Authorities say Hill and the girl’s mother attempted to give the child CPR with instructions from a 911 operator.

She was pronounced dead at the Memorial Hospital of Salem County.

Authorities say it wasn’t known why Hill allegedly hurt the girl.
