Ted Cruz’s campaign has scrubbed its new ad “Conservatives Anonymous,” after discovering that an actress in the spot had also appeared in several adult films.

The 30-second ad — set at a group therapy session of conservative voters who feel betrayed by Marco Rubio on immigration — featured actress Amy Lindsay, who has also appeared in the adult films “Erotic Confessions,” “Carnal Wishes,” and “Secrets of a Chambermaid,” BuzzFeed News reported.

Cruz spokesman Rick Tyler told BuzzFeed in a statement Thursday that the campaign is replacing the ad with a different one.

“The actress responded to an open casting call. She passed her audition and got the job. Unfortunately, she was not vetted by the production company. Had the campaign known of her full filmography, we obviously would not have let her appear in the ad,” Mr. Tyler said.

Ms. Lindsay told BuzzFeed that she’s a Christian conservative who is currently deciding whether to support Mr. Cruz or Donald Trump. Before the ad was pulled, she praised Mr. Cruz for being open-minded enough to let her appear in the spot. After the news broke that it was scrubbed, she tweeted her disapproval.

“Extremely disappointed the #TedCruz campaign pulled the national television spot I had a role in… #moretocome #myvotecounts,” she wrote Thursday night.

Before the ad was pulled, legendary porn star Ron Jeremy told the Daily Caller that he “thinks it’s great” Ms. Lindsay was picked for the role, noting that “porn stars are liberal in nature.” He later said “Cruz shouldn’t be embarrassed” by the ad.

Ms. Lindsayposted a photo on Twitter last month of herself and Mr. Jeremy at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas.
