NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - The evening commute isn’t starting out well for rail commuters in the New York area.

New Jersey Transit says emergency track repairs by Amtrak in the north tube of the Hudson River tunnel are causing delays that are likely to stretch as long as an hour.

The agency says the work is likely to continue until at least 5 p.m. Trains are using the south tube.

NJ Transit says PATH and NJ Transit buses are cross-honoring rail tickets.

It’s the second straight day of disruptions for train riders. On Thursday, NJ Transit and PATH trains were delayed by problems at two separate bridges over New Jersey’s Hackensack River.
