SOLOMONS, Md. (AP) - Maryland State Police have arrested a longtime swimming coach at St. Mary’s College of Maryland on child pornography charges.

Troopers said in a news release Tuesday that 45-year-old Andre Barbins of Solomons was arrested Friday and charged with child pornography and displaying obscene matter to a minor. He was released on bond, according to online court records.

Neither a phone number nor a lawyer for Barbins could be found.

State Police say troopers executed a search warrant on Barbins’ home on Friday and found digital media with images of child pornography.

According to the St. Mary’s College website, Barbins has been head coach of the men’s and women’s swimming programs since 1998.

The college said in a statement that the college is working to protect the campus and community.
