PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities have identified a woman and a young girl who died in a two-car crash in Phoenix.

Phoenix police say the victims are 24-year-old Karimahi Overstreet and 3-year-old Amaya McNiel.

It wasn’t immediately clear Tuesday if the woman and child were related.

Police detectives say the vehicle Overstreet was driving Monday night struck a curb and drove up onto the sidewalk.

They say the car then traveled along the sidewalk for some distance before returning to the road, where it drifted left of center and collided almost head-on with another vehicle.

Police say Overstreet was pronounced dead at the scene.

They say the child was a car seat and was badly injured. She died Tuesday morning at a hospital.

Police say the other driver was seriously injured.
