NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - Federal officials say a Middletown man has pleaded guilty to his role in a series of bank robberies that happened in seven towns last year.

Matthew Dragone pleaded guilty on Tuesday to one count of bank robbery.

The U.S. Attorney’s office says he admitted to robbing or attempting to rob seven different banks from Aug. 12 to Sept. 11. Officials say the banks were located in Berlin, Deep River, Wethersfield, Cheshire, Rocky Hill, Durham and Killingsworth.

Officials say 31-year-old Dragone was arrested Sept. 18 after police searched his home and found clothing and sunglasses similar to those worn in the Durham robbery.

He faces up to 20 years in prison when he’s sentenced on May 13.
