COMPTON, Calif. (AP) - The Compton City Council has unanimously approved a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who shot a1-year-old girl in the head and killed her in her crib.

City News Service reports the total reward is expected to soon rise to $75,000. After the council vote Tuesday, Compton Mayor Aja Brown announced Los Angeles County officials and the FBI will each match the city’s reward.

Investigators said the gunman got out of a car Feb. 9 and fired at least five rounds at a converted garage where the child lived with her parents. Officials said the gunfire was most likely meant for the baby’s father, who acknowledged being a gang member.

Authorities are looking for a newer model blue four-door Chevrolet Impala.
