DENVER (AP) - Arapahoe Basin’s plan to expand backcountry terrain is going forward.

The U.S. Forest Service issued a draft environmental impact statement on Friday that is one of the final stages of approval. The plans include a new lift and expansion into the steep terrain known as the Beavers and Steep Gullies.

According to the Denver Post (http://tinyurl.com/hdpfqf6 ), the area is part of Arapahoe Basin’s Special Use Permit boundary.

Management of the territory is covered by the Forest Service’s land and resource plan for the White River National Forest, one of the most skied national forests in the country with 11 resorts.
